Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) February 20, 2013

Fifty selected students will meet with authors, politicians and global thought leaders, such as Karl Rove, former presidential adviser, author and FOX News commentator, and participate in leadership training, policy debate, and speech competition. They will receive free travel, room and board, to this summer?s program.

Potentially $395,000 in scholarships will be available to the students in scholarships.

Three full-tuition scholarships to the University of Texas ? Arlington and $15,000 in scholarship grants will be awarded to competition winners, and every one of the 50 students who will attend Oklahoma Christian University will receive a $1,000 per year scholarship for up to four years.

To apply today, please visit http://fourstarleader.com/ or for more information call 580-726-5900.

General Tommy Franks, former commander-in-chief of American and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, hosts the program, with Oklahoma Christian University (OC), the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) and new 2013 partner the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA).

Deadline for applications is May 15, 2013.

Since 2008, 4SL has welcomed 206 American high school students from 42 states and 32 international students. Kings, governors, senators, Olympic gold medalists and top national policy experts have mentored students in developing and demonstrating the core leadership principles of the program: character, common vision, communication, and caring.

Each session will follow curriculum designed to develop leadership skills and challenge students through teambuilding exercises, collaboration, spontaneous problem solving and competition. Excursions during the week will provide participants opportunities to further develop and employ those skills through cultural experiences and service projects.

This year?s Four Star Leadership Congressional Debate competition offers students expert policy briefings so they may address those issues in persuasive speech and editorial contests, while collaborating in a model Student Congress. Students will investigate contemporary policy controversies ranging from energy policy to human rights.

Four Star Leadership with General Tommy Franks is an all-inclusive program (tuition, room, board, travel and fees) that is free to selected students. Four Star Leadership invites top high school leaders from across America to apply. Applicants should have the potential to build relationships and motivate peers to action. They should be quick on their feet, eager to engage in active dialogue, willing to develop independent ideas and able to communicate effectively.
